The following obituary is from the November 8, 1956, issue of The Mountain Eagle:

Mrs. Manerva Dixon Caudill, Passes Away At Blackey

Mrs. Manerva Dixon Caudill 78, died at her home in Blackey Sunday night, November 4. She was the widow of I. B. Caudill who died in 1942. Born in Letcher County the daughter of the late William Van and Dicy Combs Dixon, she had spent her entire life in Letcher County.

Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Buckhold, and a son, Howard Caudill, both of Blackey; brother, Bryant Dixon, Blackey; sisters, Mrs. Martha Craft, Whitesburg, Mrs. Mollie Cornett, Dry Fork; Mrs. Henry Brown, Carcassone, Mrs. Jane Back, Mrs. W. R. Bates, Mrs. Oma Blair, all of Blackey.

Funeral service Wednesday 10:00 A.M. C.S.T., Little Ruby Church, Letcher, with Elders I. D. Back, Jack Brown, Wardie Craft and Ray Collins, officiating. Interment in the Caudill Cemetery, Blackey. Johnson Funeral Home in charge.
