Walter Earl Butler was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 16, 1887. He departed this life on June 16, 1953 at his home in Durham, Oklahoma, after a long illness.
He was the son of John Matt Butler and Charity Ellen Crow. Mr. Butler came to the Reydon Community with his parents in 1905, and has resided in Roger Mills County, since that time. He was married to Miss Lillie Mae Goodwin of Crawford, OK on August 2, 1916; to this union seven children were born.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mrs. Lillie Mae Butler of Durham, OK, two daughters, Mrs. Laurellen Barnhart of Bakersfield, CA, Miss Erla May Butler of Shawnee, OK, five sons, John Albert of Durham, OK, Charles Lewis, James Paul, George Edwin, all of Calif., and Cecil Glenn of Jackson, South Carolina, one sister Mrs. Rada McBride of Idaho, four brothers Melvin J. and Alvin of Reydon, OK, Willie and Ray of Portland, Oregon, 11 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Butler made peace with God when he was a boy and has been a Quaker in belief since that time.
