Mrs. Ann Audiss wife of the Rev. W. Audiss was born at Helpringham, Lincolnshire. England, June 21st 1822. She embraced the Christian religion, March 1st 1840, and at once united with the Primitive Methodist Church. She at once became a zealous worker in the lord's cause, to promote His glory in the salvation of others. On August 8th 1843, she was united in holy matrimony to the Rev. W. Audiss, and at once became a great help to him in his Christian work. She fore part of their married life, it was not strange to see her traveling with him on foot, on the Sabbath day, to his different appointments, in home mission work, and that work principally in the open air. The early part of Mr. Audiss' labors was spent in home mission work, where she was a wonderful help in that work, God wonderfully blessing their labors. Several churches are standing today as monuments of their labor, to God be all the glory. After raising a large family, they came to America in 1871 and united with the P.M. Western conference, and after some time, her health broke down, and they were necessitated to settle down and located at Portage City, Wisconsin, to be near their children. About three years since her health failing more rapidly, and not being able to keep house, they went into the country and made their home with their daughter, Mrs. M. T. Mason at Moundville. These last three years were years of great suffering. About three weeks before her death her pains left her and she lay as peaceful and quiet as a lamb, greatly engaged with God and pouring blessings on her children and urging her husband not to be long in coming to meet her. After spending 59 years of Christian life and leaving with her husband and children that testimony of an assurance of a glorious future, she peacefully passed away to her reward, July 23rd 1899. On the 25th appropriate services were conducted by the Revs. Briggs and Jones of the M. E. Church, after which her remains were quietly laid away in the Moundville Cemetery, to wait the resurrection morn. W.A.
NOTE: The death date I have here for her, from cemetery records found, and the one in the obit are different. If anyone can find the true date and let me know I would appreciate it.
