John E. Breeds, 83, of 23 East Ave., McGraw, died Saturday at Cortland Memorial Hospital Nursing Facility, Cortland.
Born in Cortland, he retired in 1984 after 19 years as superintendent of public works in the village of McGraw. He was a member of McGraw United Methodist Church, McGraw Grange and Cortland County Highways Superintendent Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors: Two daughters, Diane Abdallah of McGraw and Kay Birdsall of Scott; a son, Richard Allis of Cortland; a sister, Ruth Bilinski of Moravia; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
