Wilbert Lindsey1844-1831. We Honor you; and Memorialize you.


Wilbert Lindsey was five years old, a young boy, who grew upon with his mother, Martha Lindsey, and father George Lindsey. Most all of his youth was spent on Ravenswood Farm, Bellaire, Mo, Cooper County. His three siblings were, Amanda Lindsey, G-mother Mary Lindsey, and Elizabeth Lindsey. when I received his pension file, I found 200 papers, including a letter written by his second wife, Maria (Tucker) Lindsey. Additionally, an sworn statement intered into court which stated, "I know Wilbert Lindsey, I knew his father, they both worked for me, He a trustworthy citizen". Signed; Nathaniel Leonard.

Transcribed, "June 28, 1892 respectfully informed of his board review from VA administration. Accordingly, He joined the 79 USC Colored Infranty. He Was a cook on ship routed down the waterways from Fort Levenworth Kansas to St. Louis, Mo. Entered into his pension file, mother, Martha Lindsey. George was ninety-years old, when this review, accompanied with a letter from Maria,his second wife, which states that Wilbert is blind, that she is ill also.

Wilbert preceed his first wife Fanny (Drew) Lindsey in death, in 1921. He remarried Maria (Tucker), his wife survived him. Pension File No. #840706. (June 22, 1892.
