James McAdams was born about 1839 and was 23 years old when he enlisted in the 108th Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry at Rochester, Monroe County, New York to serve three years. On July 31, 1862 he mustered in as a Private in Company ‘F'. He was with the regiment when it left Rochester for the seat of war on August 19, 1862. He was a Private when hemustered out with the Company on May 28, 1865 at Baileys Crossroads, Virginia. He was with the 108th Regiment when it returned home to Rochester from the seat of war on the evening of June 2, 1865.
