MARY M. ROOT
Mrs. Mary M. Root, 414 Main st., Bellwood, died Wednesday at 9:40 a.m. at Valley View Home, where she had been a guest for three months.
She was born June 7, 1892, at Houtzdale, a daughter of Calvin and Margaret Edmiston Mothersbaugh. She was married June 27, 1907 at Cumberland, Md., to Amos P. Root. He died June 29, 1963.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Lula Wenderoth, Altoona; Mrs. Margaret O'Shell, Bellwood; Mrs. Linda Berkstresser, Bellwood; Mrs. Minnie Haverstein, Middletown; Mrs. Verna Waite, Bellefonte; also four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A sister Lula Ohrtman, Tyrone, also survives.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Bellwood, the Sunshine Workers Class, the Missionary Society and the Auxiliary to the United Transportation Union of Tyrone.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Bellwood, in charge of the Rev. Earl Myers. Burial will be in Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
