The second child and first daughter of Ella Russell and the Rev. Guy J. Fansher, she was born in the parsonage of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She was described as an exceptionally bright, lively and loving child. Her death from delayed complications following surgery for appendicitis was a great blow to her family, as her mother was already suffering from the cancer that would take her own life 5 months later. Her father and surviving siblings - Russell, Harriet, and Frances - always kept her close in their hearts.
