Arvilla White Jay of Salt Lake City and Beaver Died on March 9, 1998.
She was born Jan. 6, 1908, in Beaver Utah. Daughter of Parley Riley White and Annie Black. Arvilla attended public schools in Salt Lake City and the University of Utah. She was employed in Salt Lake City by Fairbanks Norse and Company and later by RKO Radio Pictures Co. During the summers of 1931 and 1932 she was a U. S. Civil Service employee in the business office at Yellowstone Park. It was there that she became acquainted with John Wesley Jay, Jr., a district Ranger in the Park. She married John Wesley Jay on June 2, 1934, in Salt Lake City. Later solemnized in the LDS Temple by President Harold B. Lee. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1973. Arvilla's husband worked for the National Park Service for 43 years. He rose to the position of superintendent from which he retired. Arvilla loved the years she spent in Yellowstone and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.Arvilla was much loved by her many cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 1998, at 12:00 noon at the Federal Heights Ward Bldg. 1300 East Fairfax Road (Virginia St. above 5th Ave.) Friends may call on Wednesday March 11, 1998, 6-8 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple and one hour prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
