OBITUARY:
The funeral for Francis A. Wald, 70, Napoleon, N.D., will be there at 2 Monday in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. He died Saturday at Long Prairie, Minn. Mr. Wald, known as Frank, was born Dec. 14, 1912, at Zeeland, N.D., where he was reared and graduated from high school. In 1931 he graduated from Ellendale, N.D.l, Normal College, and he taught in rural Emmons County, N.D., schools. He had operated a restaurant at Gettysburg, S.D. On August 24, 1936, he married Rose Erck at Strasburg, N.D. They had lived in various North Dakota and South Dakota towns. In 1945 they moved from Jamestown, N.D., to Napoleon, where he manageda retail lumber yard, retiring in 1977. She died in 1980. He had presently been serving his third term as mayor of Napoleon, and he was chairman of the centennial committee. He is survived by three sons and two daughters, Duane, Pipestone, Minn.; Allyn, Strausverg, N.D.; Tom, Casselton, N.D.; Mrs Cameron (Carol) Geritz, Fargo, and Mrs. Ron (Darlene) Eldred, Long Prairie; two half sisters, Mrs. Mike (Pauline) Schaffer, Bismarck, N.D., and Mrs. Mary Ziegler, Oakridge, Ore.; and 2 grandchildren.
