Mrs. Samuel Moore.
Died--At her home in LaHarpe Sunday, May 31, 1908, at 1:15 p. m., Nancy A. Spiker Moore, aged 63 years and 21 days.
The deceased born in the vicinity of LaHarpe, May 10, 1845, where she grew to womanhood and was united in marriage to Jerome Terrill in the year 1861.
To this union 13 children were born five of whom have preceded her to the great beyond. The eight children now living are Mrs. Dora Haley, Monmouth, Mrs. Mary Six, Everest, Iowa; Tom Terrill, Breckenridge, Mo., Mrs. Hattie Alton, Dallas City, George Terril [sic], Muscatine, Iowa; Mrs. Clara Wallace, Kirkwood, Ill.; Mrs. A. Newcomb of this city and Mrs. Nettie Whalen, Canton, Ill.
Mrs[.] Moore was the daughter of John and Earie Spike and one of twelve children. Father, mother, three brothers and three sisters have preceded her in death. The six who are now living are Mrs. Sam Brown, Mrs. Elisha Hamilton and Mrs. Harvey Collins, John Steel all of LaHarpe; Tom Spiker, Nebraska, and Henry, Tennessee. The deceased had thirty grand-children [sic] and three great-grand-children [sic].
Mrs. Moore united with the M. E. church in Breckenridge, Mo., in 1881 and was a constant attendant at church services until sickness prevented. She was a kind and loving mother and a dear beloved wife. Her kindness to everyone made her a host of friends. Her first husband Jerome Terrill died in 1884 leaving her to fight life's battles with eight children to care for. On March 3, 1894 she was united in marriage to Samuel Moore, who survives her and has been a faithful help-meet until death.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. church today at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Rowson. Burial in LaHarpe cemetery.~Samuel and Nancy married in 1894. In 1899 their children (then stepsiblings), George Moore and Dora Terrill, married.
