He served in the US Army in WWII in the European Theater. His serial number was 34597398. He was a Squad Leader. He was wounded in action in Nov. 1944. The hospital card details shell fragment wounds in his thigh and foot. He received penicillin therapy and was returned to duty in March 1945, serving until December 1945.
He was survived by sons, James Mitchell Chandler and Scott Wade Chandler, Gastonia; daughters, Patricia Brady, the home, and Frances Billings, Blacksburg, SC.
He was preceded in death by his disabled son, Arthur David Chandler, who passed away on June 27, 1984, at age 34.
