Thelma Squires Hancock, daughter of the late Mr. Claude Columbus Squires and Mrs. Exie Pickett Squires, was born October 17, 1909, in Green County and departed this life on Wednesday, October 30, 1996, at the Green Hill Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was 87 years and 13 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Summershade United Methodist Church. She united in marriage to Mr. Thurman Hancock on September 26, 1937, who preceded her in death on November 12, 1992. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Glen and Mary Sue Hancock and Claudie and Renea Hancock, all of Greensburg; two sisters: Hazel Kessler of Greensburg and Ruby Buchanan of Greensburg; two foster brothers: Sylvester Rogers of Louisville and Paul Howard of Westchester, Ohio; four grandchildren: David Hancock of Greensburg, Amy Shofner of Greensburg, Ryan Hancock of Louisville, and Josh Hancock of Greensburg; two great-grandchildren: Matthew Hancock of Magnolia and Baylee Shofner of Greensburg; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Squires Hancock were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 2, at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Summershade Cemetery. Rev. W.D. Strader and Rev. Wayne Wilson officiated. Pallbearers were Bob Jordan, Kenneth Buchanan, Billy H. Squires, Harold Squires, Marcus Kessler and Jimmy Little.
