Actor. Born Richard O'Brien in Portlaw, Ireland, he immigrated to America in 1882, enlisted in the US Army and served during the Philippine American War. After the war, he relocated to Los Angeles, became a member of the Rialto Star Feature Company and acted in silent films through the 1920s. In the 1930s, he was a performer on Broadway in New York and during World War II, he was in the US Army Special Service/USO Camp Shows in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. After the war, he was a regular in Hollywood performing in over 30 films to include "Boomerang" (1948), "A Streetcar Named Desire" (1951), "Dreamboat" (1952), "Viva Zapata" (1952), "Stars and Stripes Forever" (1952), "A Man Called Peter" (1955) and "The Mountain" (1956).
