He was born June 8, 1924 in Cooks, Michigan the son of Leonard and Mabel (Savage) Carley and attended school in Cooks.
Ken served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a self-employed carpenter and had previously worked on road construction. He enjoyed riding in the woods and visiting with his family.
He is survived by his brother, Harold "Wiffer" Carley of Nahma Junction; sister, Marion Caldwell of Cooks and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Whetstone and brothers: Fred, Lloyd, Alton "Jolly", Joel, Laurence "Stub", Donald and Roger "Moe" Carley.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique, with a veterans memorial service at 6:00 P.M. A eulogy will be delivered by Mr. Robert Anstaett at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Inwood Township Cemetery at Cooks.
