Vera Stepachok Andrew, 86, of Elkton, passed away Sept. 18, 2012, at Harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg, where she had been a resident for the past five years.

Mrs. Andrew was born Nov. 28, 1925, in the Ukraine and immigrated to the United States with her husband and children in September of 1949. They were sponsored by the Mill Creek Church of The Brethren near Port Republic.

Mrs. Andrew was preceded in death by her husband, Vladimer Andrew, on Dec. 19, 1991. She is survived by daughters, Lidia White of Atlanta, Ga., and formerly of Raleigh, N.C., and Mari McDaniel and husband, Lowry, of Blackstone, Va.; six grandchildren, Christopher White, Tanya Jones, Nikole Johnson, Nina Gardner, Lara Shockey and Alaina Descares; and 10 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Eduardo Andreyev.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Mill Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor A. Lee Kinsey and Pastor Nathan Hollenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
