Joe David Crossett Lansing Our loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle, Joe Crossett, passed away September 18, 2012 at the age of 82 with his loving family by his side. Joe was born June 13, 1930 in Atwood, TN, the son of the late Joe Martin and Effie Lorraine (Sauls) Crossett. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, for four years, during the Korean Conflict. Joe retired from the City of Lansing, Parks and Recreation Department after more than 30 years of service. He also served as a board member for Lansing Christian Schools. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Dwayne. Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Jane; son, Gary (Mary) Crossett of Jackson, MI; daughters, Amy (Wayne) Delo of Eagle, MI, and Lisa (Michael) Sparrow of Evanston, IL; grandchildren, Aaron (30), Maxwell (18), Samantha (16), Eli (2), and Henry (4 months); sister, Pauline (Paul) Campbell; special niece, Sherrie; and many extended family and friends who lovingly knew him as "dad", "grandpa" and "uncle Joe". A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI with the Rev. Jim Hixson officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing. For those desiring, contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, PO Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909 in memory of Joe. The family wishes to express a very special thanks to the staff on the 7th floor at Sparrow Hospital whose loving care of Joe and his family made the unbearable bearable.
