Funeral services for Mr. Charles Eugene Jones, 82, of Nashville will be conducted Saturday Sept. 22, 2012 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Dwight Nelson and Bro. Gary Anderson officiating. Place of rest will be in the Scott Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Katy Ault Phillips Melanoma Foundation or the Lupus Foundation of America – Charlotte, North Carolina Division. Services are under the direction of the Taylor Funeral Home.

Charles, a longtime truck driver, died Monday at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. A native of Old Hickory, Tenn., he was the son of the late Elbert Irving and Emma Davidson Jones. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Della Ruth Taylor Jones; and brothers Reese and Leonard Jones.

Charles was valedictorian and graduate of the William James High School class of 1948. He was a longtime truck driver for the Consolidated Freightways Company of Nashville and a member of the Shacklett Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife Myra D. Jones of Nashville; sons Ralph Jones and his wife Judith Fogus of Murfreesboro; Bill Jones and his wife Karin of Studio City, Cal.; daughter Gwen Roberts and her husband Dave of Huntersville, N.C.; brother Wallace Jones of Donelson; sisters Loraine Cathey of White Bluff; Helen Cathey of White Bluff; Georgie Spencer of Burns; Carolyn Creech of Cumberland Furnace; grandchildren Chris England, Abby Roberts, Taylor Roberts, Will Jones, Samantha Jones; great-grandchildren Maddie England, Delaney England, Elizabeth England, Caroline England; and several nieces and nephews.
