Edgar Reed, 83, of Salina, died Monday, March 17, 1986, at the Salina Nursing Center.
Born Jan. 22, 1903 at Assaria, he graduated from high school there and earned his bachelor and master's degrees from Fort Hays State University.
He had been a teacher, coach and administrator for 43 years, retiring in 1969, as Saline County superintendent of schools. He was a principal of Sylvia Rural High School from 1939 to 1942. He was a member of the Schooner Mariners, Sunflower Lions Club, AARP and Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors: wife, Lucille N., of the home; sons, Ralph, of the home, Dr. Robert Reed, Grand Rapids, Mich.; brother, Orin, Assaria; sisters, Mrs. Marie Burchett, Dodge City, Mrs May Conner, Salina, Mrs. Erma Patrick, Lindsburg; 3 grandchildren.
Funeral was 10 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bernard Hawley officiating. Memorials to the church.
