Milton Van Buren Miller was born March 17, 1870, in Woodsboro District, Frederick County, Maryland, the son of Jacob and Julia Ann Six Miller. On March 20, 1889, in Woodsboro, he married Mary Ann Plowman Ilgenfritz, daughter of Charles Henry and Matilda Emswayler Ilgenfritz. They were the parents of 11 children: Matilda Ilgenfritz, Caroline Rebecca, Mary Blanche, Russell M., John A., Julia Ann, Myrtle Mae, Earl Van Buren, Ray Leroy, Margaret P. and Lucy Catherine Miller.


From the Frederick Daily News of Monday, September 21, 1936:

"The following members of the clan attended the Miller reunion held Sunday at Riverside park: Mr. and Mrs. Milton Miller and Miss Lucy Miller, Keymar; Mr. and Mrs. John Strawsburg, Jr., Miss Eloise Strawsburg, Mr. and Mrs. John Boone, the Misses Isabel, Margaret, Leanna and Ruth Boone, John Boone, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Boone, the Misses Jeanette, Donald, Charles, Henry and Milton Boone, Union Bridge; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Eigenbrode, Miss Doris and Harold Eigenbrode, Thurmont; Mrs. EarlMiller, Ladiesburg; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Miller and Jacky Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Millard Wimmer and Miss Janet Wimmer, Frederick; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Beard and Miss Helen Louise Beard, Unionville."

"DEATHS. MILTON V. MILLER. Milton V. Miller, well-known resident of near Keymar, who was for thirty-six years track foreman on the Pennsylvania Railroad, died at 3:35 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at his home,after an immediate illness of paralysis. He was aged 67 years, one month and 25 days. He had been in failing health since last December 15. Mr. Miller was the son of the late Jacob and Julia Ann Six Miller. His wife was before marriage Mary Ann Plowman Ingelfritz. He is survived by two sons, Earl V. Miller, Ladiesburg, and Roy L. Miller, Conshohocken, Pennsylvania; seven daughters, Mrs. William Boone, Conshohocken; Mrs. John Strawsburg and Mrs. John Boone, both of Union Bridge;Mrs. Russell Eigenbrode, Thurmont; Mrs. Elmer Boone, both of Union Bridge; Mrs. Millard Wimmer, Frederick, and Mrs. Frank Graver, at home; three brothers, Edward L. Miller, Indiana, Iowa; William F. Miller, Detour, and Harry L. Miller, Stanford, Montana; a half-brother, Ira Miller, Rocky Ridge, a sister, Mrs. George Clem, Graceham; twenty-two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. For fifty-five years, Mr. Miller wa a member of Mt. Zion (Haugh's) Church, near Ladiesburg. He was also a member of Taneytown Lodge No. 99, Jr., O.U.A.M., and Union Bridge Lodge No. 90, Improved Order of Red Men. He was treasurer of the Haugh's Church Cemetery Board for a number of years. he was highly esteemed in his community. The body may be viewed Saturday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock at his late residence, from which the funeral will be held Sunday morning at 11:30 o'clock, with further services in Haugh's Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. Frank Fife. The pallbearers will be Baxter Daugherty, Charles Stitely, Harry Trout, Keefer Martz, Marshall Wachter and Clayton Putman. Interment will be in the cemetery adjoining the church, with the Junior Order in charge of service at the grave. C. O. Fuss and Son, Taneytown, funeral directors."
