Carolyn Terry, age 78, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.
Carolyn was born in Elberton, GA, on February 10, 1934, daughter of the late Chat Warren and Zephrea Blackwell.
Committed to child welfare throughout her career, she was employed as a counselor for juvenile offenders for the State of Pennsylvania until her retirement.
Carolyn devoted her life to caring for her beloved family and especially delighted in cooking wonderful meals for them. She also enjoyed spending time with her many good friends, singing, playing the piano, vegetable and flower gardening, and watching her favorite television daytime dramas.
She is survived by her devoted children, Edward Victor Terry, Jr. and wife Arlene, Melanie Terry, and Wanda Lytle, all of Philadelphia, PA, JoAnne Morris and her husband John of Townsend, DE, and Anthony Lewis Terry of Richmond, VA; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; former spouse, Edward Victor Terry, Sr. of Corpus Christi, TX; and uncle and aunt, James and Carrie Warren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frankie "Francine" Moore, and sisters, Catherine Allen and Hilda Hunter.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 5, 2012, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 1842 Otts Chapel Road, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 10 am.
Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
