MARINA VERA

Marina Vera passed away Monday, July 19, 2004, one day after her 91st birthday, at Brownsville Medical Center. A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marina was a loving sister and caring aunt to over thirty nephews and nieces.

A Brownsville native and lifelong resident, Marina was the third of eleven children and went to work at an early age to help support her family. She retired as a secretary to the U.S. District Attorney after 30 years of federal service, which included time with Judge Reynaldo Garza in federal court and working at the American Consulate in Matamoros.

Marin a is survived by three of her sisters, Amanda Vera Garcia and Alicia Vera, both of Brownsville, and Oralia (Yaya) Vera Garcia of Austin, Texas; three brothers, Jesus Vera and Sigifredo Vera, both of Brownsville, and Reynaldo Vera of Dallas.

She is fondly remembered for her strong faith, hearty laugh, and her fierce loyalty to family.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, morning, July 21, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Buena Vista Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mother of Perpetual Help Nursing Home, 519 E. Madison St., Brownsville, TX 78520.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Darling-Mouser Funeral Home, 945 Palm Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78520 (956) 546-7111.
