ADAMS - Capt Benjamin Adams, a well known resident of Riverhead, died Monday evening, August 27th, in the Southampton Hospital, after a long illness. Capt Adams, a native and life-long resident of Riverhead, was in his 72nd year. He was a past grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge, a Mason and a Red Man. Besides his widow he is survived by the following in his immediate family: Mrs George Monsell, Greenport; Mrs William A Terry, Riverhead; Harry Adams, Greenport; Mrs George Zahnle, North Arlington, NJ, and also by these sisters and brothers: Mrs Lafayette R Hand, Riverhead; Mrs Archie L Young, Southampton; John Q Adams, Riverhead; and David Adams of Bay Shore. Funeral services were held at his late residence in Riverhead on Thursday afternoon. Interment was in Riverhead cemetery.
