Son of Tommie Lee and Printilla Gulley

Brother to Lola and Lee

Married LaDonna Monson in 1993; father of Layla Evette and Leah Nichole

He was born into a musical family. By the time he was in high school, Lumark was playing drums in various choirs with his sister, Lola, who is also a gifted musician. He played drums and bass with his high school music teacher in the "E.B. Coleman Big Band" while performing with a funk band from high school. Jazz, though, was his real love.

In 1988, Lumark attended Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi where he studied trombone and arranged music with Paul Adams, his mentor and instructor. He also studied with drummer Al Fielder.

After graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, Lumark moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he preformed with organist Melvin Rhyne; later moving to Baton Rogue, Louisiana where he played bass with famed clarinetist and educator, Alvin Batiste. In 1998, he flew to Paris, France to play with the Southern University Jazz Band.

After moving to Dallas, Texas, Lumark quickly became the drummer to watch and be heard. He worked with several churches but joined First Baptist Church Hamilton Park as a member and musician. He actively played in several venues around the Dallas area and scheduled time to play in other parts of the world.
