WILLIAM GERMOND - The remains of William Germond were interred in Greenwood Cemetery Tuesday morning. Monday evening the Rev. Dr. W. J. Peck, pastor of the Union Church, conducted services at the late home of deceased, 53 Main Street, Corona, A widow, Mrs. Sarah Germond, and a daughter, Mrs. H. Savage, are the immediate survivors of deceased. Mr. Germond was the oldest man in Corona, having celebrated his 86th birthday in August. He was born in New York City in 1822. He was a member of the old Volunteer Firemen's Association of New York City, having been affiliated with Engine Company No. 6 for many years. Mr. Germond moved to Corona with his family thirty years ago. For twenty - nine years he lived at No. 142 Locust street, between Central and Myrtle avenues. During the past few years he had been failing in health, and recently he suffered with a cancerous growth on his face. The direct cause of death, was old age, however, which occurred last Saturday afternoon. The widow, Mrs. Sarah Germond, has been suffering with an ailment for the past six months. She was 77 years old in July.
