Services for Cecil Floyd Pope, 58, will be at 1 PM Saturday at George A Smith & Sons' Main Street Chapel with Revs Richard Smith & David Olhausen officiating. Burial will be in Maple Springs Cemetery near Mercer.

Mr Pope, a machinist for Tennessee Valley Authority, died Thursday morning at Regional Hospital in Jackson after a long illness.

He was born in Mercer, TN; served with the Navy during WWII and was a machinist with Kimberly-Clark and the Tennessee Valley Authority in Memphis as well as the Atomic Energy Commission's Rocky Flats Plant in Denver.

Mr Pope was a 25 year member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union. He belonged to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs Ann Taylor Pope; two sons, Stephen F Pope of Jackson and Keith Pope of Denver; his mother, Mrs Martha Pope of Jackson and a brother Gilbert B Pope of Jackson, TN.

Pallbearers will be Sam Wolfe, Bill Harrison, Leroy Petty, Gene A Hartsfield, Joe B Brevard and Milton Ward.
