GRASS VALLEY. July 18.— John Huntoon, a pioneer of 1849, died here, at an early hour this morning. He was born in Canton, Mass., and led an eventful life. During the perilous times in San Francisco he was a member of the famous Vigilantes and later was Territorial Governor of Idaho for twelve years. He leaves two daughters Mrs. G. F. Sherman of this city and Miss Carolyn Huntoon of Berkeley.
