PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Gertrude Harrell Hobson, 93, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Narazeth Hospice in Philadelphia, Pa. A former resident of Houlka, she was a native of Pontotoc County and the daughter of Charlie and Verdell Harrell. She was a member of Thompason Chapel CME Church in Houlka, where she was a member of the choir, an usher and a director of the youth department. She was a founder of the Willing Workers Club in Houlka and a beautician. She loved to work in her garden and quilt.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Thompson Chapel CME Church with the Rev. Carl Jones officiating and Supt. Glenn Huggins bringing the eulogy. Burial will be in East County Line Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by one daughter, Tamera (J.T.) Wilcoxson of Bensalem, Pa.; two sons, David (Sandra) Hobson of Cleveland, Ohio, and James Timmy ( LaTonya) Hobson of Houlka; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Vistation is from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
