Birdie, daughter of John F. and Christie Ann Bird, was born May 19, 1890 in Golconda, Illinois and died May 3, 1970 at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY., having reached the age of 79 years, 11 months and 14 days.She was united in marriage with Sir Walter Scott on May 31, 1908, which continuous close communion of matrimony was maintained until her death. To this union were born two sons; Dr. Joseph F. Scott, of Metropolis and Samuel J. Scott of Washington, D.C.

In addition to her surviving husband and their two sons with their families of four grandchildren and three great grandchildren, she leaves to mourn her passing two brothers, Bryan and Dewey Bird of Golconda, Illinois and many other relatives and friends.

She has been a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Golconda, Illinois with the rev's L.R. Bowles of Wyatt, Mo., and Roosevelt Jackson of Brookport, Illinois officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Golconda. The pallbearers were Hoy Gibson, Nick Roper, Marchall Williams, Hal Gibson, Wayne Bender and Ewing Tanner.
