Trenton resident, George Vanderpool, 74, passed away at his home at 103 West 17th Street Tuesday evening August 24, 2010 while under hospice care.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Friday at the First Assembly of God in Trenton. A scheduled family visitation will be held from 7:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at the Resthaven Mortuary at Trenton. Burial will follow military graveside rites in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens at Trenton. Memorial contributions have been suggested to be given to the First Assembly of God Building Fund.

Mr. Vanderpool was born on February 9, 1936 at Trenton, MO the son of Lloyd O. and Mary Grace Mantlo Vanderpool. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1954 and the next day he entered the United States Air Force. He served his country from May 17, 1954 until his honorable discharge on June 1, 1974. He was discharged as a Tech. Sgt and served in Viet Nam. He was married to Willa Marrs on March 13, 1955 at Trenton, MO. After his discharge they returned to Trenton to make their home. He was employed at American Sterilizer Company and worked on medical equipment in the Kansas City area for 10 years.

He was a member of the First Assembly of God and the Major Dale Stepp Post # 31 American Legion.

Mr. Vanderpool is survived by his wife, Willa of the home; 3 sons; David Vanderpool of Kennett, MO, Richard Vanderpool of Hopkiton, MA and Jeffrey Vanderpool of Gardner, KS; a sister, Mary Tharp of Harrington, KS; 2 brothers, James and William Vanderpool both of Des Moines, IA and by 10 grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Robert Vanderpool.
