Mrs. Mary Riederer, nee Mary Straka, one of the town of Cato's oldest residents, died early today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Edward Staudinger, near Cato Falls. Mrs. Riederer was 93.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Reedsville Co-operative funeral home and at 9:30 at the St. Mary Catholic church in Clark Mills. The Rev. Michael Fetko will offer the funeral mass with burial in the church cemetery.
The former Mary Straka was born on her parents' town of Cato farm in 1855 and was married to Michael Riederer in 1875.
Following her marriage the couple farmed in the township until Mr. Riederer's death 26 years ago. She remained on the home farm with a son, Frank, until coming to live with the Staudingers several years ago.
She was a member of the Christian Mother's society of the St. Mary's parish.
Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Staudinger, and another daughter, Mrs. John Manlick of Auburndale, Wis.; son Frank, now of Whitelaw; 39 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the Reedsville funeral home from 7 p.m. Tuesday until the time of services Thursday morning. The rosary will be recited there at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.
