Schoolteacher in the education profession for 42 years. Received a Master`s Degree from Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. Retired in 1984.

Jane Steele Graves, 86, of the Cassville community, passed away March 16, 2008, in Sparta, Tennessee.
Graves was born September 16, 1921, in White County, to Benjamin 'Ben' Steele and Bertha Hicks Steele.
She was a graduate of Tennessee Technological University and George Peabody College, and served as Professor of Library Science for 20 years at the University of Louisville. She was a member of the Peeled Chestnut Methodist Church and the White County Retired Teachers Society.
Graves was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters,
Evie S. Holland, Dovie S. Griffin,
Ova S. Vinson, Daisy S. Stone,
Dollie S. Holland; and three brothers
Lenord Steele, Tom Steele and Otis Steele.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law,
Mary 'Ruth' Roberts Steele, and
Clara 'Mamie' Roberts Steele, [of Goshen, Indiana].
Services will be March 18, 2008, at Peeled Chestnut Methodist Church with burial in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Perry Clayton will officiate.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
