Rev. Frank H. Enbright

The Rev. Frank H. Enbright, 905 Neosho Street, who had served the Methodist Church for nearly 50 years, both as a pastor and as a district superintendent, died Tuesday evening in Newman Memorial County Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the First Methodist Church. They will be conducted by Dr. William A. Hubbard, pastor of the church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ebright was the son and the grandson of ministers and his sons all followed him into the pastoral field. He was born July 29th, 1886, in Lyons, the son of Alpha O. and Arminta Philbrick Ebright. He was married to Nellie Fossette June 24th, 1909, in Caldwell, and she died in 1934. He was married to Lona Lee Barockman July 12, 1936.

Mr. Ebright was graduated in 1909 from Southwestern College in Winfield and received his training for the ministry from the Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, N.J. He started his career in 1914 in Powhattan then was pastor of churches in Robinson, Clay Center, Baxter Springs and Kansas City. In 1925 he transferred to St. Louis, Mo., and in 1927 moved to Carthage, Mo. After three years at the Carthage church, he returned to Kansas to be minister of the First Methodist Church in Independence, then was appointed superintendent of the Parsons District of the Methodist Church. After five years in this capacity, he served as pastor of the Lowman Hill Methodist Church in Topeka for five years before he was again appointed to a superintendency, this time in the Emporia district. He had lived here since 1945 and after his retirement in 1951 was for several years the supply pastor of the church in Hartford.

Mr. Ebright, a member of the Kansas Methodist Conference, also had been an active member of the Emporia Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife; by one son, Dr. Arlon O. Ebright, who died earlier this fall, and by three brothers, Edward, Homer K., and Mills A., and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Dr. Donald F. Ebright, Altadena, Calif., and the Rev. Frank H. Ebright, Jr., of Geneseo, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. D. J. Fair, Sterling; thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

THE EBRIGHT FUNERAL

Funeral services for the Rev. Frank H. Ebright, 905 Neosho St., who died Tuesday in Newman Memorial County Hospital, were held Friday afternoon in the First Methodist Church. They were conducted by Dr. William A. Hubbard, pastor of the church, and assisted by W. McFerrin Stowe, Topeka, Bishop of the Kansas Area of the Methodist Church and the Rev. Travis Siever, Emporia District Superintendent of the Methodist Church. Scott A. Mouse sang, accompanied by Mrs. Alan Smith. Pallbearers were Harry Newton, Earl Gadberry, Vernon Griffith, Elmo Jones, Francis Taylor and William F. Hersch. Those who attended in groups were ministers of churches in the Emporia District and their wives and members of the Lions Club, the Modern Priscilla Club and the Jolly Dozen Club. Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Kirk and Steven, Bucklin; Dr. Donald F. Ebright, Altadena, Calif.; Dr. and Mrs. Frank H. Ebright, Jr., Geneseo, Ill.; Mrs. Arlon O.
