HERRINGS- James Childers, 53, 24509 First St., died Sunday evening, October 14, 2012 at his home where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.

He was born in Carthage, NY, on December 2, 1958 to the late Robert and Euline D. Potter Childers. He graduated from Carthage Central in 1977. He has been married for 31 years to Pamela Woods. He was previously employed by E.C. Crooks Memorials, Carthage and the Harley-Davidson dealer in Adams, NY. He was a dedicated employee and craftsman; he recently retired from T. F. Wright & Sons Granite Foundry in Carthage.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela, Herrings; a son Ryan, Carthage; a daughter, Shannon and her husband Scott Messier, Black River; 2 grandchildren, Jadyn and John. He is also survived by three brothers, William and Cassandra, Natural Bridge; Donald and Wendy, Carthage, and Paul and Sonya, Carthage. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents and a brother Bobbie in 2011.

He enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, and he coached for 25 years the Carthage Little League Baseball.

Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, October 17th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A Funeral will be held in the chapel of the Funeral Home on Thursday, October 18th at 11:00am with Wayne Arnold officiating. Burial will be held privately in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage.
