RUBY KEEN BROWN
RUBY KEEN BROWN, 80 years of age of the Slate Creek section of Grundy, VA passed away Sunday, November 14, 2004 at her home. Born in Buchanan County, January 29, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Witten Keen and Martilie Osborne Keen. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, retired from General Electric Corporation of Cicero, IL, was of the Baptist Faith, an avid gardener, enjoyed quilting, sewing for her children, a loving mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Sherman Brown; two sisters: Minda Jane Mullins and Lillie Viars; eight brothers: William Keen, Noah Keen, Howard Keen, Ervin Keen, Earl Keen Dockie Keen, George Keen and Melvin Keen; one daughter-in-law: Mary Nell Brown.

She is survived by three daughters: Janette Miller, Janice Zolman and husband Forrest all of Grundy, VA, Geneva Gibson and husband James of Hurley, VA; five sons: Russell Brown of Grundy, VA, Ralph Brown and wife Gloria of Cicero, IL, Ray Brown, Randall Brown both of Grundy, VA, Rammie Brown and wife Jatana of Hampstead, NC. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ruby Keen Brown will be held Thursday, November 18, 2004 at 12:00 noon at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, VA with Reverend Jeffery Allen Stacy officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Family Cemetery on Woosley Branch, Grundy, VA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Services will be held Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.

Active Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be David McClanahan, Jerry Deel, Bo Rife and Dean Shortridge.
