Born in Yonkers, NY on June 26, 1923, he was a son of the late John Sell and Elizabeth Wicht of Yonkers, NY. Mr. Sell had been a resident of Wallingford, since 1944, before moving to Florida. He was a graduate of New York University with a degree in electrical engineering and had worked for Revere Corp. in Wallingford, and later as an engineering manager for Harco Laboratories Inc. in Branford, before retiring. Mr. Sell was active in Boy Scouting in Yalesville, was a member of Yalesville Methodist Church, later transferred to First United Methodist Church of Meriden and then to First Baptist Church of Meriden. During World War II he proudly served his country in the U. S. Army in the European, African and Pacific Theaters.
He is survived by his two daughters, Heidi, of Rocky Hill, Melody of Williamsport, PA; a son, Chris, of Bethel; and three grandchildren, Erika, Elizabeth and Michelle. He was predeceased by two wives, Erika Schmidt and L. Eileen Batchelder.
Funeral services and burial will be private. The Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to First Baptist Church of Mount Dora, 1000 E. First Avenue. Mount Dora, FL 32757.
