HELEN FITZGERALD
CLARE - Helen Fitzgerald, 95, of rural Clare, died Feb. 11, 1995 at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Clare, with the Rev. Dale Reiff officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Clare, and visitation is after 2 p.m. Monday at the Sievers-Laufersweiler Funeral Home, Humboldt, with a vigil at 7:30 p.m.
Survivors include her sons, James M. Fitzgerald, Panama City, Fla., and Leo Fitzgerald, Clare; daughters, Dolores Anderson, Fort Dodge, and Madonna Strait, Storm Lake; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret Passow, Clare, Irene Petrie, Waterloo, and Marie Gilbert, LaMessa, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, James D., son, Robert, two grandsons, Eddie and Teddy Jo Fitzgerald, and six brothers.
Helen Buscher was born Dec. 20, 1897 in Indiana. As a youth she moved to the Duncombe area where she attended Evanston School. She then moved to a farm southwest of Humboldt. She was married to James D. Fitzgerald in 1920 in Humboldt, and the couple established their home on a farm near Clare where she resided at the time of her death.
Helen was a member of the Altar Society at St. Matthew's Church.
