CLARE – James D. Fitzgerald, 85, a lifelong resident of Webster County in the Clare area, yesterday at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt, following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:15 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Clare. The Rev. John Cullen, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Clare.
Rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock Saturday and Sunday evenings at the funeral home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born and educated at Clare and married Helen Buscher in Humboldt in 1920. They made their home on a farm near Clare.
Surviving are the widow; children: Mrs. Melvin Oberhelman, Barnum, Leo, Robert and Mrs. Leo Strait, all of Clare; James D., Panama City, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. L. B. Davenport, Humboldt.
Mr. Fitzgerald belonged to the Holy Name Society of St. Matthews.
