Services For Earl Hall
Harley Earl Hall was born in Strang, Nebraska, November 16, 1891, to George and Mary Hall. They came to Webster County and lived on a farm in Garfield until moving to Red Cloud and starting a blacksmith business.
In 1912 Earl started his own business as a car dealer and automotive repair shop. He continued in this business until 1927 when he was in the Palace Bakery for a short time. He then went back to the automobile business.
On May 21, 1932 he married Elsie Jernberg. To this union was born one daughter, Sylvia Marie.
As a younger man Earl was a marksman at shooting blue rocks and has earned several trophies.
He had been an exceptionally healthy man all of his life. He departed suddenly from his beloved family on the morning of November 30, 1971. at the age of 80 years and 14 days.
Beside his wife, Elsie, he is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Stokes of Friend, Nebraska; one brother, Thomas of Geneva; five grandsons, one granddaughter, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a first wife. Mildred Fulton, a daughter, Winifred Derr, a brother, Charles.
Services were conducted from the Simonson Funeral Home on December 3 with the Rev. Ernest Marsh officiating.
Sue McNeil sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "In the Garden," accompanied by Sylvia Beams at the organ.
Pallbearers were Harold Whitaker, Curt Watson, Howard Watson, Corban McCracken, Dewey Saladen and Clifford Caldwell.
Interment was in the Red Cloud Cemetery.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jernberg, Akron, Colo.; Mrs. Earl Schmidt, Greeley, Colo.; Mrs. R. T. Robinson, Cheyenne, Wyo; Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Derr and Wally Derr, McCook, Neb., and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Opie, Denver Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Stokes, Sioux City, Iowa.
