Winfield Scott Allen was born on April 23,
1847 in Marshall county, Illinois and
departed this life at Bigelow, Kansas on
December 31, 1920 at the age of 78 years,
8 months and 8 days. He was the son of
Dr. Benjamin and Pamela Allen.

He moved with his parents to Iowa in 1857
where he was married to Lydia M. Rhodes
on September 17, 1868. To this union was
born eight children, five of whom survive
him, two having died in infancy.

He came to Kansas thirty-eight years ago.
about eleven years ago he moved from
here to Oklahoma. A few months ago he
came with his wife to Kansas, to visit a
daughter, Mrs. Anna Colton, at whom
home he died.

He was a member of the Christian Church
at Buchannan, Iowa since he was a young
man.

He leave his wife, Lydia; three daughters,
Mrs. Viola Widner, Comargo, Oklahoma,
Mrs. Cora Harrison, Lexington, Oklahoma
and Mrs. Anna Colton, Bigelow, Kansas;
two sons, Willis Allen, Arkoe, Missouri
and Ulysses Allen, Ft. Laramie, Wyoming.

Funeral services were held at the Christian
Church in Bigelow, Kansas at 2:30 p.m.
on Saturday.

Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery,
southwest of Frankfort, Kansas.
