Raymond Facey, 52, was talking to his daughter on the phone conversation when he was killed and his car stolen.
Excerpts from NY Daily News:
"Mr. Facey was a married Jamaican immigrant with four kids. His brother-in-law said he was talking to his daughter about plans for a Jamaican getaway at Christmas.
He moved to the city from his homeland 28 years ago, and was known for his way with barbecue and his garden.
November 3, 2012:
More than 200 family members and friends of Raymond Facey -- the Brooklyn man killed in a carjacking minutes after a Nassau officer was also shot -- mourned the death of the hardworking father Saturday.
"He was admired, loved and respected by everyone who knew him," Facey's aunt, Zadie Marzouca, said during the ceremony at Holy Trinity Parish Church in Cambria Heights, Queens.
Facey, 58, came to the United States from Jamaica 28 years ago and loved music, cooking and farming, his family said. His wife, June, four children and three stepchildren were joined by a multitude of other family members. Facey was laid to rest wearing a white suit, yellow shirt and lime-green polka-dot tie.
