Laura first married Joseph Elmer Smith on Dec 3,1887. He preceded her in death in 1895. She then married George Shepard on Oct 18, 1906.

MRS. LAURA SHEPARD, 90, DIES MONDAY NIGHT AT VANDALIA NURSING HOME

Mrs. Laura Shepard, age 90, died Monday night, Jan. 19, at the nursing home in Vandalia, where she had resided for the past 6 months.

Funeral services were to be held Wednesday afternoon at the Giesking Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Edwards officiating.

Surviving are four children, Mabel Scott of Effingham, Lovie Cockrell of Williams, Mn., Ray Smith of Pensacola, Fla., and Elsie Shephard of Altamont.

Burial will be in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Jackson Township.
