Mrs. Laura Shepard and Mr. and Mrs. Noble Shepard were called to Edgewood several times last week on account of the serious illness of Mrs. MALINDA OSMAN, a sister of Mrs. Laura Shepard. Mrs. Osman passed away on Thursday afternoon. The Shepard family attended the funeral which was held on Saturday afternoon, with interment at the 2nd Wabash Baptist church cemetery. We give our sympathy to those who have been bereft.

Malinda Alvis was born in Jefferson County, Illinois, February 25, 1860, and departed this life at her home in Edgewood, Ill., August 1, 1940, aged 80 years, 5 months and 7 days. She moved to Effingham County with her parents when nine years of age, and has resided here since.

She was united in marriage to William Osman January 25, 1878, and to this union were born six children, one son preceding her in infancy. On December 25, 1916, her devoted husband was called to his eternal home.

At the age of 13 years she united with the Methodist Church and tried to live a Christian life. She was a kind and loving mother and a good neighbor.

She leaves to mourn her passing four children, James Osman of Edgewood, Ill., Everett Osman of Mason, Ill., Mrs Eva Clifton of Arkansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Faye Vickery of Geuda Spring, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Shepard of Altamont, Ill., and Mrs. Nora Klinger of Mason, Ill.; ten grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral of Mrs. Malinda Osman, who died Thursday, was held at the Christian Church Saturday at 2 o'clock. Rev. B.F. Mahon officiated. She was past 80 years of Age.
