OXFORD – Mabel "Pickie" Foote, 88, of Oxford, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at the New York State Veterans' Home, Oxford.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1920 in Smithville, the daughter of the late Leeman and Ruth (Ingraham) Cady. On Aug. 12, 1937 she married Frederick Foote, who died on May 4, 2007.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Alietta and David Wright of Greene; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lora and Derwin Jones of Phoenix, N.Y., Doris Potter of Oxford, Chuck Ross of Oxford and Mabel Cady of Phoenix, Ariz.; her granddaughter and husband, Lou Ann and George Day of Greene; and her great grandchildren, Michelle, Monica and Brian Day. She was predeceased by her sisters and brother, Marie Ross, Beatrice Howe, Lawrence Cady, Raymond Cady and LJ (Q) Cady.
Pickie was a member of the United Church of Oxford. She and her husband operated a farm for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, games of marbles and enjoyed many good times at Old Forge. She was known for ability to hang wallpaper. She had attended the Taste & See Soup Kitchen in Oxford for several years.
