Mary Ann Schoenfelder Nold, 74, Wathena, KS, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2003 at her home after a valiant battle against pancreatic cancer. Mary Ann regarded her husband and their many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to be God's greatest blessings. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lindy Nold, and their 10 children and spouses: Mark and Catharine Whitlark Nold, Lynn and Robert George, June Nold, Bruce Nold, Elizabeth Nold, Paul and Mary Kay Voet Nold, Jenifer and John Gumula, Monica Stephens, Angela Nold, and Eric and Carol Fossell Nold. Additional survivors are her sisters: Eulalia Philipi, Dolores Dorsey, Esther Bauman, Angela Derks, Patricia Pelot, and brother, Cornelius Schoenfelder, one aunt, Sr. Aniceta Shalz, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Albert and Elizabeth Shalz Schoenfelder, and her brothers; Eugene, Wallace, and Gregory. Her deep faith, gift of song, and terrific sense of humor will be especially missed by her 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren: Matthew, Margaret, Luke, Maureen, Kathleen, Mark, and Patrick Nold; Angela Bausch, Nikki and Chad Karns, and Erin George; Stephen Nold; Christopher and Valerie Nold; Lucrecia, Bryant, Elliot, and Derek Nold; Haley and Amber Gumula; Emily Nold; Austin and Aubrey Karns, and more to come. Mary Ann was born April 27, 1929 in Wathena, and was a lifelong resident attending St. Joseph's Parochial school, and graduating from Wathena High School. She married Linden Nold, April 14, 1947, when he was working at the Fruit Growers State Bank, Wathena. They later became co-owners of Wathena Agency, Inc., where she worked part time in later years. Mary Ann was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and was an active member of their choir and St. Ann's Alter Society where she held many leadership positions. She was also a member of Post #161 American Legion Auxiliary, Post #5531 VFW Auxiliary, and a past member of St. Joseph, MO Fortnightly Club and St Joseph Community Chorus.
