Linda Kay Hudspeth Harris, 58, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, after a courageous battle with colon cancer, on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born April 7, 1952 in Surry County to the late Lonnie Reece and Rosie Annie Mae Stokes Hudspeth. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She retired from RJ Reynolds after 35 years of service. Linda was always a light and inspiration to others, even during her illness, especially with her "mercy drop" ministry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Hudspeth. Surviving are her husband, Frederick Alan Harris; son, John Thomas (Jodi) Gough, Jr.; daughter, Holly Harris; grandchildren, Danny Walden, Hailey Gough; sisters, Adelle (Parks) Brown, Brenda (Romie) Flynn, Margie (Shelton) Stikes; brothers, Wayne (Bobbie) Hudspeth, Ray (Doris) Hudspeth. Her funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Green Meadows Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas Dwayne Byrd and Dr. Kenneth Hyde. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday, January 14, 2011 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family would like to thank The Angel Room staff at Winston-Salem Healthcare and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home staff for all the love and care shown to Linda and her family during her illness.
