He was born on Nov. 3, 1933, the son of the late Edgar and Belle Abbott. Jerald faithfully served our country in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Doyle E. Abbot; and one nephew, Eric Abbott.
Jerald is survived by his beloved wife, Josephine Abbott; three sons, Craig Abbott and wife Connie; Robert Abbott and wife Robin, and Michael Abbott; one sister-in-law, Lena Mae Abbott; five grandchildren, Amanda Carlton and husband Guy, Robbie Abbott, Matthew Abbott, Blaine Abbott and Will Abbott; and two nephews Hugh Ab-bott and wife Robbin, and Dennis Abbott.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Fort Green Baptist Church in Fort Green. Service will follow the visitation at 11 a.m., with Brother Steve McGaughey of Fort Green Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Green Methodist Cemetery.
