"Oscar Leonard, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Buzzell Leonard, died Sunday of typhoid fever. The funeral was held from the Universalist church Tuesday. Oscar was a bright, lovable boy and a favorite among his schoolmates. Much sympathy is felt for the family. The older son, Willie, is very ill with the same disease though hopes are entertained for his recovery." (Orleans County Monitor, 12/8/1909)
