Jacob Nifong was the sixth of eight known children of Adam Nifong (1786-1876) and Susanna (went by Susan) Clodfelter Nifong (1789-1872), who married on 08 Feb 1808 in Rowan (became Davidson) County, North Carolina.

Jacob married Catherine (went by Katie) Wier (c1823-a1900) on 20 Feb 1844 at Davidson County, North Carolina. Jacob and Katie were the parents of eight known children, namely:

1. Alexander Nifong (1844-1863)
2. Susan E. Nifong (1846-1858)
3. John Wesley Nifong (1848-1911)
4. Franklin R. Nifong (1848-1918)
5. Eliza Carolyn Nifong (1853-c1881)
6. Samuel A. Nifong (1856-1925)
7. Julius E. Nifong (1859-1940)
8. James A. Nifong (c1863-c1893)

Taken from the excellent book, "Nifong and Knifong - Descendants of Balthaser and Casper Neufang" by Becky J. Nifong Lassiter in 1998, is the following:

"The following note was listed in the News from THE DISPATCH (Davidson County, North Carolina newspaper) for the period July 3, 1901 to Sept. 25, 1901: Mr.Jacob Nifong, a well known citizen of Arcadia Township, died Sunday morning (July 7) after an illness of a few days. Deceased was 78 years old. He was buried at Mt. Olivet Church Monday morning. He is survived by four living sons and many relatives."

However Jacob is not listed in the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery transcription. Does anyone know if he is really buried there or if he is buried in an un-marked grave there? It is not known when his wife Katie died or where she is buried.

Links to Jacob's parents, six of his eight known children and six of his seven known siblings are included below.
