Bio

I was born in Alexandria, VA to William A. Taylor (1922-1981) of Winchester, VA and Helen J. Scheehle Taylor (1922-living) of Martins Ferry, OH. I grew up mainly in Alexandria, VA and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1988. After that I have been gravitating westward for various reasons, ending up in Reno, NV. I have three children - Audrey b.1995, M. Alex Jr. b.1996 and Kennedy Jean b.2012. I am changing my youngest's diapers as I send my oldest daughter off to college this summer.

A unique feature of the Taylor family is how we skip generations. I had a child at age 46 in 2012. My father had me when he was 44. His father had him when he was 46. What I end up with is a grandfather born in 1876 (the year of Custer's last stand) and a great great grandfather born in the 1700's (Griffin b.1798).

Because my genealogy goes back so far so quickly I have become fascinated with tracking down my ancestors. I have heard so many stories over the years, some going back to the Civil War, that I have a yearning to know who these people were and what makes me and my children who we are.

My Mother's Scheehle heritage is relatively well documented back to Germany in the mid 1800's. But my Father's is more checkered and dubious. That is why I focus on the Taylors and Cains from Frederick and Clarke Counties in Virginia going back to the 1700's. Any help is appreciated, and I intend to do what I can out here the relatively new West.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
